2009 We have the pleasure to announce the completion of the above-mentioned study which will update those published in 1986, 1993, 1996, 2001 and 2006 on the same subject. The scope of this study will be expanded with a number of additional countries in Eastern Europe and Africa. As in the previous reports, it will cover the current market for blood and blood components, as well as equipment and supplies for the collection, processing and transfusion of blood. The following topics will be included:
  • Organization of Blood Transfusion Services,
  • Data on blood & plasma collections, and component prices,
  • Data on the processing of blood, components and plasma for transfusion,
  • Data on the market for blood bags, cell separators, filters and other supplies and equipment.
A detailed description of the study, the table of contents of a sample chapter and a subscription form are enclosed. Please note the deadline for the early subscriber’s price.

BLOOD COLLECTION AND TRANSFUSION IN EUROPE AND AFRICA - 2008

INTRODUCTION

Since 1986, the Marketing Research Bureau has regularly published studies
on the collection, processing and transfusion of blood in Europe, with the aim
to provide data on these markets and to describe their dynamics.

As the expansion of the European Union has changed the regulatory,
technical and economic environments of blood transfusion services in many
countries, an update of this study is timely. Furthermore, several African
countries, in particular in Northern Africa, are moving toward modern blood
transfusion services. OBJECTIVES The objective of this market research study is to provide a quantitative and
qualitative analysis of the blood collection, processing and transfusion market
in about 35 European countries and 25 African countries. This study will
cover the following topics in each country:
    1. Structure and organization of blood collection and transfusion. Overview
of recent organizational changes, current issues and future developments.

    2. Blood/plasma donation process, storage, and distribution. Type of donors
      (paid, replacement or voluntary, non-remunerated).

    3. Quantitative data on blood collections, level of component separation
into red cell concentrates, fresh frozen plasma and platelets. Production
of single donor apheresis platelets, where applicable.

    4. Leukodepletion and other pathogen reduction measures for blood and
components. Where applicable, plasma safety measures (quarantine,
      methylene blue, solvent detergent).

    5. Market shares of the equipment and supplies used in blood/plasma
collection, transfusion and processing (blood bags, apheresis machines,
      filters, etc.)

    6. Where available, price of blood and cellular components..
The market data for the various items above will given in units, Euros, dollars
and national currency, as well as market shares by company.

METHODOLOGY

Numerous primary and secondary sources will be used to gather the
information. Numerous interviews will be conducted with:
- Blood bankers and Hematologists,
- Industry experts, and
- Government and other regulatory authorities,
The following steps will be taken to achieve the study objectives.
    1. Client Participation. Each subscriber to the report will be given an
opportunity to discuss its specific information requirements. Every effort
will be made to include such requests into the study, for an additional fee if
      necessary.
    2. Secondary Data Analysis. All the published documents relevant to the
study areas will be compiled, and the Marketing Research Bureau database
      will be extensively used.
    3. Field Study. In-depth one-on-one, telephone and e-mail interviews will
constitute the main source of information for this study.

REPORT, COST AND TIMING

The final report will be 120 pages in length. Each subscriber will receive one
hard copy, and an electronic (pdf) version of the report.

The price of the report is $5,950 (five thousand nine hundred and fifty
dollars). A promotional price of $4,950 (four thousand nine hundred and fifty
dollars) is offered until August 31, 2009.

The Table of Contents of the report is enclosed for your information.
